Blackfish Marine specializes in the Sale of New, Pre-Enjoyed and Brokerage motor vessels. With three locations throughout the Pacific Northwest, we are conveniently located in Chandlers Cove at the South end of Lake Union in Seattle, WA, at Twin Bridges Marina off Hwy 20 between Mount Vernon and Anacortes and on Granville Island in Vancouver, BC. The expert sales and service staff at Blackfish Marine can assist with every aspect of your next power boat transaction. Beyond the process of getting to know our customers needs and educating them on the boats that best meet their needs, we pride ourselves on the long term relationships we form with our customers. After the sale is complete, we do more then just deliver the boat to our customers. WE GO BOATING WITH THEM! Many Often Wonder, Where did the name Blackfish Marine come from?
Blackfish, aka Orca, or more commonly, killer whale – a creature that inspires awe in Pacific Northwest Boaters. “Blackfish” is what the coastal Kwakwaka'wakw band (First Nations peoples) in British Columbia call these sleek hunters, which are actually mammals. Technically, Orcas are very large dolphins – with much larger teeth. Whales have always been important to BC’s native people. Killer whales especially were believed to possess great powers and were never to be harmed.
When Blackfish Marine was founded in 1988 by the Dick Irwin Group, it was Dick Irwin’s Granddaughter who suggested, at the age of ten, that the Company should be named “Blackfish Marine”, after the awe inspiring creature that she so enjoyed while out boating with her parents (Rick and Lara Irwin). As great lovers of the Sea and all Creatures in it, we thank Shannon Irwin for naming the Company after such a powerful and awe inspiring animal.
